The Ring of Fire has been showing some synchronous activity lately in the form of both earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The lands surrounding the Pacific Ocean are known as “The Ring of Fire” because they are an encirclement of the Pacific Ocean by some of the most highly active geologic activity on the planet. It ranges from southeast Asia, one of the most active areas, to Japan and the Kamchatka Peninsula, to the Aleutian Island chain and coastal Alaska, to the Pacific Northwest and the entire west coast of North, Central and South America, plus the Hawaiian Islands, where Kilauea volcano, the most active volcano on the planet, is located. It’s kind of a big deal.
